Reception hosted by Japan as a follow up to TICAD 7

Reception hosted by the Mission of Japan to the African Union

     From 4 to 6 February, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) organized the workshop “Effective Report Writing and production of Knowledge Management product” (the hands-on training workshop funded by Japan) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. On this occasion, as a follow up to TICAD 7, the Mission of Japan to the African Union hosted a reception on 4 February.
             
     The reception was attended by participants of the training workshop, as well as invitees from international organizations such as African Union Commission, UN Women, UNICEF, UNIDO, WHO and IPPF.
             
     The reception started with H.E Amb. SHIMIZU Fumio, Ambassador of Japan to the African Union, delivering welcome remarks. Amb. SHIMIZU wished the success of the workshop, and expressed his vision for collaboration between Africa and partner countries, international organizations, business people and civil society through the TICAD process.
              
     The reception was followed by remarks delivered by Mr Stan Nkwain, Ag. Director of the UNDP Regional Service Center for Africa (RSCA). Mr Nkwain referred to Japanese support for UNDP, and expressed his hope for deepening cooperation with Japan, so that UNDP can further contribute to African development.
             
     The Mission of Japan to the African Union continues to cooperate with the UNDP RSCA for African development through the TICAD process.
