From June 23 to 25, 2025, the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) / Continental Results Framework (CRF) Training and Research Workshop was held at the headquarters of the African Union (AU).

This workshop was organized by the AU Office of the Special Envoy on WPS, with financial and human resource support from the Government of Japan under its FY2024 supplementary budget. The aim of the workshop was to enhance knowledge and awareness on WPS and CRF on the continent, and to promote the sharing of implementation experiences among AU Member States.

At the opening session on June 23, Mr. Toru SUGIO, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Mission of Japan to the African Union, delivered a statement reaffirming Japan’s continued commitment to the WPS agenda. He also highlighted Japan’s co-chairmanship, together with Norway, of the WPS Focal Points Network in 2025, and emphasized the importance of close collaboration with the African Union, including the Office of the Special Envoy on WPS.
